On this World Bee Day, we offer this book as a symbol of our commitment to bees, biodiversity, and sustainable rural innovation.
📘 What’s the book about?
This training material introduces an innovative approach to beekeeping by blending traditional practices with modern methods like:
- Experiential learning and gamification
- Honey sensory analysis
- Climate change adaptation in apiculture
- Direct sales and short supply chains
- Honey-based gastronomy
It encourages a quality shift in the beekeeping sector – from mass production to experience creation and customer engagement.

The book is organized into five main chapters, each created by experts from different EU countries:
- The World of Bees and Honey
An introduction to bees, their roles in ecosystems, and the basics of honey production. - Beekeeping as an Experience
How beekeepers can offer more than just honey – storytelling, farm visits, and immersive customer experiences. - Honey Sensory Analysis
Learning to evaluate honey like wine: flavours, aromas, textures – and how to communicate them to consumers. - The Hidden Benefits of Honey
Nutritional, therapeutic, and culinary values of honey and other bee products. - Climate Challenges and Solutions
How climate change affects bees and what beekeepers can do to adapt and protect pollinators
Each chapter includes – with an additional methodological toolkit:

- Gamified elements for learning and teaching

This training book is a joint effort by experts from Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary and beyond, and will be available in five languages: English, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovenian, and Italian.
