József Sipos works as a plant doctor, consultant and university lecturer. He is dedicated to helping people by promoting the consumption of fresh, chemical-free, healthy foods and ingredients from controlled production.
His family has been farming since the late 1800s. Sipos himself is characterised by a curiosity about nature, a love for his vocation and professional humility. In 2019, he was awarded the Farmer of the Year Award. Currently, he has been focusing his research efforts on the Varroa mite of bees.
Beekeeping plays an important role in the family business. József Sipos has been a beekeeper for 28 years. He considers education his most important commitment and gives lectures on beekeeping for all kinds of age groups, from young schoolchildren through university students to professional beekeepers’ communities.
He believes, personal, hand-on experience is the key word when educating the younger generations. Mr. Sipos regularly visits schools and summer camps organising eco-days and he also make YouTube videos for the older generation on beekeeping (e.g. on the relationship between beekeepers, farmers and botanists, the healing power of bee venom and so on).
Health awareness plays an important role in his life, and beekeeping products are an essential component of it. Mr. Simon also organises tasting events for honey and other beekeeping products, such as pollen, and combines these with presentations on environmental awareness, focusing on the importance of pollinators, bee pasturage and the life of bees.
He is the creator of the blog series „Buzz from the hive”.
He is planning to create more informative videos in the near future to bring beekeeping to city people.
