Honey Heaven, nestled in the heart of the picturesque medieval town of Slovenj Gradec, stands as a symbol of ancestral dreams that have been nurtured and realized over the centuries. The Perger family’s rich heritage in honey confectionery, honeybread-making, and chandlery crafts has been carefully preserved and passed down through nine generations, with the deepest family secrets still guarded closely.
The business is renowned for its commitment to using carefully selected natural ingredients and family innovations, which have propelled its story to every corner of the globe. Their products have gained international recognition, appearing on Slovenian postage stamps, and being featured in numerous Slovenian and foreign TV shows, documentaries, and full-length feature films such as Cvetje v jeseni, Tantadruj, and Maškarada.
Each product from Honey Heaven embodies a taste of nature, a touch of love, and an aroma of harmony, leaving customers longing for more. The quality of their honey dough mixture is verified using an ancestral method dating back to 1757: a fresh egg, laid that same day, is placed on top of the mixture. If it remains on the surface without sinking, it signifies the perfect quality of the Perger honeybread mixture.
Honey Heaven is the only place in the world that naturally bleaches beeswax in the sun. Special ‘drawers’ containing beeswax are placed on the roof of their family house and covered with linen cloth, where the beeswax is left in the sun for about two months to achieve its natural bleaching, which also imparts healing properties. Additionally, they produce unique purple and pink dyes from young nettle, handpicked in spring and autumn after the rain.
The mission of Honey Heaven is to create the highest quality products with significant added value, continually adapt to evolving market needs, and excel in their products, services, and relationships with family members, employees, and business partners.
A visit to the only European honey-bread maker and candle maker with a tradition dating back to 1757 ranks among the most interesting tourist attractions in Slovenia, and thus also in the town of Slovenj Gradec.
