The idea for the educational beekeeping garden was born in 2020 when György began teaching a beekeeping course. He recognized the need for a small apiary with fewer bees where small groups could gather around the hive and watch the educational demonstrations. Thanks to the rise of green initiatives in schools, interest in educational beekeeping has grown. They offer demonstrations for small groups about the life of bees. In the nursery, children have the opportunity to dismantle a simulation hive (without bees) and try lighting the incense burner, using the hive tool, opening the hive, and removing and examining the frames. Children can do these activities in pairs, which helps develop cooperation skills. The more courageous children can also take a closer look at the bees in the hive. The hives are equipped with pollen collectors, allowing observers to witness this process as well. After the practical demonstration, children can taste beekeeping products like different flavoured honeys, pollen, and propolis, while learning about their health benefits.
During the beekeeping season, an open beekeeping event is organized at the apiary, where all interested parties are welcome. Participants can observe and experience the honey extraction process—honey for bread, the smell, texture, and taste of honey straight from the hive—thus introducing society to the flavour of natural honey.
